WHAT’S
INVOLVED

After contact with one of our volunteers, participants can expect to receive a medical information disclosure form to sign and provide to their medical practitioner, authorising them to disclose relevant information to the chosen gym owner. Participants can then expect probationary instructions from the relevant gym owner, should that owner deem it as required. This could look like up to 3 introduction classes, and then up to 3 months of limited classes, however this is at the discretion of the gym owner. Once a participant has been accepted into the program, they can also expect one of our volunteers to speak to them about sizing and order required uniforms and safety items.

RELIEF

Participants have reported that during the 60-90 minute block classes they find a period of concentration and relaxation, almost a mediative zen-state. The periods of learning that are provided and the practicing of the sport force the participant’s full concentration on what he or she is learning or practicing at the time and as a result remove feelings of anxiety or ‘head-noise’ giving the member relief for that period of time.

ll

RESILIENCE

Combat sports teach many lessons. Resilience is an important attribute to develop on the road to recovery. Participants can expect to be provided with opportunities to develop and demonstrate resilience, building a pride of self and a transfer of skillsets into everyday life that is highly beneficial.

RECOVERY

The short periods of peace when training rapidly become the event that participants look forward to day to day. As participants move through their journey to recovery and rehabilitation to either return to service or progress with civilian life, the second and third order effects of a combat sport are felt fully. Participants can expect to inherit a community of like-minded individuals containing professionals, entrepreneurs, and training partners keen to help!
